YouTube Video Ideas for Business: 30 Ideas by Funnel Stage

"What should I even talk about?" is the most common question I hear from founders. The answer isn't in your head. It's in your sales calls. Here are 30 ideas that work for B2B, sorted by their job in the funnel, plus the system to never run out.

Why shouldn't you pick video ideas for views and subscribers?

Most lists of “YouTube video ideas” are built for views: trends, challenges, reactions, whatever went viral last week. For a business that's a trap, for three reasons.

  • The wrong viewers don't buy. A video that gets 100,000 views from people who will never pay you brings no calls.
  • They confuse the algorithm. YouTube learns who your audience is from who watches. Viral off-topic videos teach it to show your channel to the wrong people, and your next useful video reaches nobody.
  • Counting subscribers makes founders quit. The numbers grow slowly at first. People who check them every day give up right before the channel starts working.

I learned this the expensive way. One of my videos got about 250,000 views and made $0. A 47-minute video with about 3,000 views brought clients. More in views vs clients.

So judge every idea by one question: would my buyer watch this before paying me? Here's where those ideas come from.

Where do the best business video ideas come from?

Not from "trending topics". From four places:

  1. Sales calls. Every question and objection. Write them down for a month.
  2. Client mistakes. What were they doing wrong before they came to you?
  3. Decisions. What do buyers compare? You vs DIY, you vs competitor, now vs later.
  4. Your opinions. Where do you disagree with your industry?

A simple trick: ask yourself the eight questions every buyer has in their head.

  1. Why should I care?
  2. What happens if I ignore it?
  3. What's the fastest way?
  4. What's the cheapest way?
  5. Can I hand it off to someone?
  6. What does it cost to hand it off?
  7. How do I not get scammed?
  8. How do I check it works?

Each question is at least one video for your niche. Usually more.

Another trick for Shorts: write down 20 "dumb" questions about your niche. The obvious ones people are shy to ask. Make them specific. "How do I make more money?" is useless. "How much does one storage unit earn in rent?" is a video. Then sit someone behind the camera to read them out, and answer each one in under a minute.

30 YouTube video ideas for business

Grouped by the job each video does: reach new people, build trust, or help a buyer decide.

Top of funnel: attract people with the problem

  1. "[N] mistakes [your clients] make with [topic]": "7 reasons you can't get sales from social media".
  2. "Why [popular advice] is wrong for [audience]".
  3. "What nobody tells you about [decision]": "What nobody tells you about opening a self-storage facility".
  4. "If I were [famous person in your space]…": your strategy for a known name.
  5. "[Industry] in 2026: what changed": news with your opinion.
  6. "How much does [your service or outcome] really cost?"
  7. "The hidden cost of [doing it wrong]".
  8. "[Myth] vs reality": one big myth per video.
  9. "Signs you need [your service]": the problem the viewer has but doesn't name yet.
  10. "I reacted to [bad advice / competitor claims]".

Middle of funnel: build trust and show how you think

  1. Your framework, step by step. The method you use with clients.
  2. A full masterclass: one hour, one big topic.
  3. "How we [do the thing] for clients": process breakdown with real docs on screen.
  4. A live breakdown: you fix a viewer's or client's problem on camera.
  5. "Steal my [template / plan / checklist]": with a lead magnet.
  6. A podcast with a partner or client: the easiest format for nervous founders.
  7. A day in your business: a vlog tour of your office, site or facility.
  8. "[N] lessons from [N] years in [industry]".
  9. A recorded talk, event or Zoom presentation. Tvoy Sklad's founder gave a Zoom presentation to 10 people. The recording got 202 views over the next months.
  10. "Questions my clients ask, answered": rapid-fire Q&A.

Bottom of funnel: answer the last questions

  1. Client case study with numbers.
  2. Client testimonial interview.
  3. "What happens after you sign": your onboarding.
  4. "Us vs DIY vs hiring in-house": honest comparison.
  5. "Who we don't work with".
  6. "How we price [your service]": the logic, not necessarily the number.
  7. "How long until results": an honest timeline.
  8. Meet the team: the people who'll do the work.
  9. A tour of your product or location: for franchises, clinics, real estate.
  10. Your VSL: "how working with us looks".

What do these ideas look like for a real business?

Tvoy Sklad is a self-storage franchise. Their content plan has 14 formats, each one answering an investor objection: an online tour of the franchise, the founder's talks, podcasts, vlog tours of facilities, live stream recordings, interviews with franchisees, testimonials.

A video about how they open a new facility got about 1,200 views. Investors wrote: "I watched everything." The channel has around 2,000 subscribers and helped attract about $5M in investments and 20+ franchisees.

For dental clinics we built a content plan with 18 long videos and 40 Shorts. The column "questions for the speaker" in the plan works as the script for each video.

I share both plans for free. Links below.

How do you turn one idea into a video?

For each idea, record a 2–3 minute voice memo: what you'd say, one story, one example. That's enough for a producer or for yourself to build a one-page script. You don't need to write a full script. More in YouTube script template.

How many video ideas do you need?

Plan 2–3× more ideas than you'll film. If you film four long videos a month, keep 8–15 ideas in the bank. When you sit down to film, choose the ones that excite you today. If you don't care about the topic, the camera will show it.

Write ideas down the moment they come. In the shower, on a call, in a comment. If you don't, they're gone.

How do you keep a content calendar?

Simple version:

  • One table: idea, funnel stage, objection it answers, status, filming date, publish date.
  • Mix every month: around one top-of-funnel video and three deeper ones. Olly Richards uses the same split.
  • One filming day a month for four long videos. Then publishing runs on autopilot.

How do you know if a video idea is good?

Before filming, check three "why"s:

  1. Why would my buyer watch this?
  2. Why would they watch to the end?
  3. Why now?

Useful doesn't mean dry. A video is useful when it gives information, emotion, or both. A stand-up special is useful. A SpaceX launch is useful. The best business videos give a clear answer and make you feel something: relief, surprise, "finally someone said it".

And one more: what makes me think this is interesting? A real question from a call or a reference video that worked counts. "I just think so" doesn't.

FAQ

What are good YouTube video ideas for a business?

Ideas based on your buyers' questions: common mistakes in your industry, myths, cost breakdowns, your framework, process walkthroughs, client case studies, comparisons with alternatives and honest timelines. Sort them by funnel stage so you attract, build trust and close.

How do I come up with YouTube video ideas for my business?

Write down every question and objection from your sales calls for a month, list the mistakes clients made before working with you, and answer eight buyer questions: why care, what if I ignore it, fastest way, cheapest way, can I hand it off, what it costs, how not to get scammed, how to check it works.

What videos should a B2B company post on YouTube?

A mix of top-of-funnel videos (mistakes, myths, industry news), middle-of-funnel videos (frameworks, masterclasses, process breakdowns) and bottom-of-funnel videos (case studies, testimonials, onboarding, pricing logic).

How many video ideas should I have in my content plan?

About two to three times more than you plan to film. For four long videos a month, keep 8–15 ideas ready, so you can choose the ones you're excited about on filming day.

What is a good content mix for a business YouTube channel?

Around one broad top-of-funnel video and three deeper middle- or bottom-of-funnel videos a month works well for many B2B channels. Broad videos bring new viewers; deep videos bring leads.

Do boring business videos work on YouTube?

Yes, if they answer real buyer questions. Tvoy Sklad's video about opening a self-storage facility got about 1,200 views, and investors said they watched everything before meeting the founder.

What are video ideas for coaches and consultants?

Your method explained step by step, mistakes clients make before working with you, live breakdowns of a client situation, myths in your field, "how much does it cost" videos, and client stories. Each objection from your calls is a video.

How do I keep a YouTube content calendar?

Use one table with the idea, funnel stage, the objection it answers, status, filming date and publish date. Film in batches, for example four long videos in one day each month, so publishing stays consistent.

Should I make videos about trends?

Only if you have a real opinion and the trend matters to your buyers. Evergreen topics that answer buyer questions keep bringing leads for years; trend videos fade fast.

Can I reuse the same video idea twice?

Yes. Most viewers didn't see the first video, and YouTube recommends videos individually. Repeat winning topics from new angles; people often need to hear a message several times before acting.
