How to Grow a YouTube-Channel without Creating New Videos
Stupid reason why your YouTube-channel doesn’t grow.
And how I fixed it without creating new videos.
Backstory:
I have a client who creates chat-bots for businesses.
Her main social platform is Telegram.
She decided to grow on other platforms in 2024.
Because she already had a lot of video content (mostly, live stream recordings and tutorials), her VA published 20 videos in 2 days.
On a brand-new YouTube channel 🙃
Channel looked like this:
Channel doesn’t grow. And she asked me to fix it.
4 key actions I did:
1. Created new thumbnails
Thumbnail is the first thing that potential viewer see in the feed.
If it’s click-worthy, you can get a view.
I used proven method to get the highest click-through rate (CTR). More about it you can learn in this YouTube-video.
2. Changed titles
Old titles were like:
“Live stream with a social media manager”
As a viewer, I don’t want to click on this video.
So I wrote new titles around specific pain points:
“How to earn more as a freelancer”
“10 stupid questions about self-employment”
These titles give the reason to watch and you can understand potential value.
3. Edited live streams
That was the most time consuming task.
Because it’s a rec of live stream, quality isn’t great and pacing drops down.
I deleted fluff, pauses, worked with audio quality.
I cropped each video by 10-40%.
Respect your viewer to increase average view duration.
4. Optimized the channel
A lot of small actions:
- Update videos and a channel descriptions
- Create a new banner
- Update SEO data
- Add playlists
- Add end screens, timecodes
So let’s check before and after? 😎
Before:
- No thumbnails
- Titles don’t show the value for a viewer
- 1-5 views
After:
- Thumbnails with big and clear elements
- Titles show the value for a viewer
- 20-300 views (and growing)
