# 5 Hormozi Content Principles I Use to Run My Agency

I've followed Alex Hormozi for about three years. Here are the five parts of his content strategy that work for a founder with a small channel, and the one I learned the hard way.

**Key takeaways**

**Short answer:** the Hormozi content strategy comes down to five principles: **volume**, **proof over image**, **one message repeated for years**, **free value with paid implementation**, and a **five-year horizon**. You don't need his budget to use them, only his rules.

- Get more out of each recording: one long video becomes shorts, clips and posts.
- Show cases and numbers, not a rented Porsche.
- Pick one message and repeat it. People buy on the eleventh time, not the first.
- Information is free now. People pay for implementation.

Alex Hormozi is probably the biggest business creator in the world right now: a $100M book launch and an audience of more than 20 million across platforms. I've followed him for about three years. Some of his ideas I copied into my agency right away. One of them I ignored, and it cost me two years.

## Principle 1: why does volume win?

His team publishes a huge amount: long videos, podcasts, shorts, carousels, clips. Most founders do the opposite: one social media person, one platform, a few posts a month.

“Won't I burn out my audience?” Think about a show you love. You never say “too many episodes”. You want another season. If your content is useful, more of it means more chances for the right person to find you.

You don't need Hormozi's team for this. You need to squeeze everything out of each recording. That's what I copied: cross-posting is now part of our base service. One filming day gives four long videos, the long videos give about 20 shorts, the shorts get transcribed into text posts.

How do you make that volume without living in the editing room? You don't do it yourself. You stay at the top, and a team works around you. In my agency it's a seven-person team: a line producer handles the shoot (filmmaker, location, sound), a YouTube producer runs the creative side (editors for long and short videos, designer, scriptwriter, account manager). You talk to two people. That's it.

## Principle 2: why does Hormozi film in a tank top?

Tank top, cap, shorts. In his early videos he wore shirts and tried to look like a “serious businessman”. Then he dropped it. The message is simple: I'm successful because of what I know and what I've done, not because of what I wear.

There's a whole market of creators who sell a luxury lifestyle: the expensive car, the view from the penthouse, “I'm rich, so listen to me”. Serious buyers don't trust it. They want proof.

For a high-ticket founder, that means: you don't need to rent a Porsche for your stories. You need cases, numbers and stories. On [my YouTube channel](https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCsnVYdrZPKWbiFUaPmY7-8A) I show the inside of the agency: our Notion, our spreadsheets, client results. That builds more trust than any outfit. Looking good still matters, but it's clean light, clean sound and a clean edit. Premium, not flashy.

## Principle 3: why repeat one message for years?

Watch Hormozi's videos from five years ago and from this year. The core idea is the same: business is hard, do the work, it's worth it. Some people love it, some hate it. That's the point. A clear message splits the audience and pulls the right people closer.

If today you say “content is great” and tomorrow “content is dead”, nobody remembers what you stand for. Mine is simple: **you film one day a month, we do the rest**, and **trust beats viral**. I say it on stage, in videos, in posts. Sometimes it feels like I'm repeating myself for the hundredth time.

“People don't hear you the first time. Or the second. Or the tenth. On the eleventh time, they buy.”

The rule to remember when you build a brand

I have proof of that. A man heard my talk at an event, then heard me again half a year later and said: “Ah, so you do YouTube. Let's talk.” He became a client.

## Principle 4: why give away your best knowledge for free?

Hormozi has no public offers in his descriptions. His books exist as free audio and video. His money comes from implementation: buying stakes in companies and helping them scale. Give away the secrets, sell the implementation.

I heard this idea about three years ago. And I didn't accept it. In 2023 I opened a company in the UK and tried to build an English business: online courses about YouTube, funnels, lead magnets, email sequences, about 5,000 followers on LinkedIn. Months of work. Almost no clients. Then Stripe closed my account with three clients on it.

The platform wasn't the problem. The business model was. Today I give away everything: the full [Business YouTube Playbook](https://evgenymaximov.com/blog/business-youtube-playbook/), complete strategies for [Brian Mark](https://evgenymaximov.com/blog/brian-mark-youtube-strategy/) and [Jasmin Alic](https://evgenymaximov.com/blog/jasmin-alic-youtube-strategy/). People read them and think: “Holy crap, now I understand how it works. But I don't want to do all of this myself.”

![Content pillars from the free YouTube strategy built for Brian Mark](https://evgenymaximov.com/img/brian-mark-content-pillars.webp)A full strategy, given away for free

In the age of AI, information is almost free. Anyone can ask a chatbot how to start a YouTube channel. Doing the work, every month, with taste, is what people pay for.

## Principle 5: why think in five years, not five days?

Nobody builds a strong brand in two days. Look at the timelines:

| Creator | Years on YouTube (about) |
|---|---|
| **MKBHD** | 18 |
| **Ali Abdaal** | 10 |
| **Alex Hormozi** | 5 |
| **Ed Lawrence** (business channel) | 3 |

So the question isn't “what do I post tomorrow?”. It's “where should I be in five years, and which content gets me there?”. For me it's a book, big stages and the international market. That's why I record videos today that won't get many views, but build the brand. If a video doesn't bring a client this week, that's not a failure. It's one small step toward a big goal.

You don't need Hormozi's budget. You need his rules: volume, proof, one message, free value, five years.

## FAQ

**What is Alex Hormozi's content strategy?**

In short: publish a lot, show proof instead of a luxury image, repeat one core message for years, give away your best knowledge for free and think in years, not weeks. Hormozi makes money on implementation and equity in companies, not on selling information.

**What does 'give away the secrets, sell the implementation' mean?**

Share your knowledge for free in your content, and charge for doing the work. Information is cheap, especially with AI. People pay for someone to implement it for them. Evgeny Maximov's agency gives away its full Business YouTube Playbook and sells done-for-you production.

**Can a small business copy Hormozi's content strategy?**

Yes, the principles work without his team. You don't need hundreds of posts a week. You need to get more out of each recording: one filming day can give four long videos and about 20 shorts.

**Why does Hormozi film in a tank top?**

Because his content sells expertise, not a lifestyle. He started with shirts and a 'serious business' look and dropped it. The message is: I'm successful because of what I know, not what I wear.

**Won't posting a lot burn out my audience?**

No. People don't complain about too many episodes of a show they love. If your content is useful, more of it means more chances for the right people to find you.

**Why repeat the same message in content?**

Because people don't hear you the first time. Evgeny Maximov noticed that clients often come half a year after they first heard him speak. One clear message, repeated in different forms, is how people remember what you stand for.

**Does giving away free content attract freeloaders?**

Some, but it also attracts serious buyers. When someone understands the whole system from your free content, many of them realize they don't want to do it themselves and hire you.

**How long does it take to build a personal brand on YouTube?**

Years, not months. MKBHD has posted for about 18 years, Ali Abdaal for about 10, Alex Hormozi for about 5, and Ed Lawrence built his business channel in about 3. Plan for a five-year horizon.

**What did Evgeny Maximov learn the hard way from Hormozi?**

He heard 'sell the implementation' and ignored it. For about two years he tried to sell YouTube courses in English. Nobody needed them. Now he gives away the knowledge and sells done-for-you production.

**Do I need a big team to use Hormozi's principles?**

No. You need one filming day a month and a system to repurpose each video into shorts and posts. That can be a small team or an agency.
